We are in the midst of a provincial election. My father rec'd a telephone call inviting him to a Town Hall Meeting today in North Vancouver with Mr. Ignatieff, the leader of the Liberal party. Because I love Canadian politics I volunteered to go with him.
First, I will say my father didn't quite understand the concept that a lot of people would be there. So we left later than we should have and didn't get in.
Secondly, he didn't quite understand the idea that protesters would be there. There was a group of mothers and kids protesting some Pavel guy. So in the middle of the crowded street, he yelled at the group of kids "where are your mothers". I was so mortified, I had to pretend I didn't know my own father.
So lessons I have learned today:
Don't take your father to another political rally
Leave a lot earlier than you would expect to.
Thanks for reading
Lynn
